Epicurean has always been on the cutting edge when it comes to unique menus, beautiful parties and exceptional staff; but we’re more than just a pretty plate. Epicurean was Denver’s first registered “Colorado Proud” caterer by the State Department of Agriculture and we also meet all of the EPA requirements for Green Events. While “going green” has gone from a buzzword to a way of life and organic is more mainstream than ever before, Epicurean has been focused on smart business practices long before it was the thing to do.

  • Paper, Cardboard, Aluminum, Cooking Oil, Metal, Plastics, Electronics recycled – contributing to a 100 ton annual reduction of refuse
  • Motion sensor lights to eliminate energy waste
  • Uses Energy Smart bulbs in 75% of the building
  • Uses Energy Smart appliances in 65% of the building
  • 90% IT equipment is Energy Star labeled
  • Uses (wherever possible) environmentally friendly cleaners and chemicals; discontinued use of products due to bad carbon footprint
  • Recycled over 50,000 pounds of building materials when remodeling our new building. (Dictated by Epicurean, not the contractor).

Kitchen Practices

  • Colorado Proud designation – buying from local providers and using seasonal items in our menus
  • Gold Leader of the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP)
  • Less than 10% of waste output; we recycle 90% of what would normally be wasted
  • Single stream recycling through Waste Management
  • Compost an average of 500 pounds a week through Alpine Waste and Recycling
  • Oil recycling program through Rocky Mountain Sustainable
  • 50% vegetable presentation on each menu – a part of the “Lean and Green” initiative

Event Implementation

  • Partnered with WeDontWaste.org providing excess food to Denver’s less fortunate
  • Availability of 100% compostable and biodegradable disposables
  • Beverage and water stations
  • Waste stations – recycle, compost, trash
  • Full recycling/composting at no additional charge when green package used
  • Recycling/composting at minimal fee when green package not used
  • Palazzo Verdi Event Facility and Mangia Bevi Cafe is a Gold rated LEED Building
